چکیده

Mass energy absorption coefficients and effective atomic numbers for photon energy absorption, ZPEAeff have been calculated in the energy range from 1 keV to 20 MeV for human tissues, Adipose Tissue, Blood Whole, Bone Cortical, Brain Grey/White Matter, Breast Tissue, Eye Lens, Lung Tissue, Muscle Skeletal, Ovary, Testis, Soft Tissue. Mass energy absorption coefficients and effective atomic numbers for photon energy absorption have also been calculated for commonly used thermoluminescent dosimeters,TLD, in the energy range from 1 keV to 20 MeV. The energy dependence of the mass energy absorption of human tissues and TL dosimeters are shown graphically. The tissue equivalency of TLDs is investigated. The effects of the elemental composition on effective atomic numbers for photon energy absorption and the tissue equivalency of TLDs are discussed.

Calculation of Correction Factors for Dosimeters Thermoluminescent of Lithium Fluoride (LiF-100) for Use in 6MV Photon Beams

Since the beginning of its use, radiation has already presented harm, justifying the necessity of controlled use. In order to monitor its effects and even avoid them, dosimetry has arisen. For the purpose of ensured all the necessary safety and monitor areas where there is radiation use, a lot of devices able to identify and quantify many types of radiation were developed. However, some these d...

Evaluation of LiF:Mg,Ti (TLD-100) for Intraoperative Electron Radiation Therapy Quality Assurance

BACKGROUND Purpose of the present work was to investigate thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) response to intraoperative electron radiation therapy (IOERT) beams. In an IOERT treatment, a large single radiation dose is delivered with a high dose-per-pulse electron beam (2-12 cGy/pulse) during surgery. To verify and to record the delivered dose, in vivo dosimetry is a mandatory procedure for qua...

In vivo dosimetry with thermoluminescent dosimeters in external photon beam radiotherapy.

The ultimate check of the actual dose delivered to a patient in radiotherapy can only be achieved by using in vivo dosimetry. This work reports a pilot study to test the applicability of a thermoluminescent dosimetric system for performing in vivo entrance dose measurements in external photon beam radiotherapy. The measurements demonstrated the value of thermoluminescent dosimetry as a treatmen...

Photosensitizing properties for porphyrazine and some derivatives

We have investigated photosensitizing properties for porphrazine and eleven of its related derivatives based on time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations. The modles have been divided into two categories based on the existence of CN functional group in one category but not in the other one. The other functional groups include H, CH3, F, CF3, C6H5, and C6F5 counterparts. The...

Water-equivalent plastic scintillation detectors for high-energy beam dosimetry: I. Physical characteristics and theoretical consideration.

A minimally perturbing plastic scintillation detector has been developed for the dosimetry of high-energy beams in radiotherapy. The detector system consists of two identical parallel sets of radiation-resistant optical fibre bundles, each connected to independent photomultiplier tubes (PMTs). One fibre bundle is connected to a miniature water equivalent plastic scintillator and so scintillatio...
